Courtney Bollman may be the Director of Community Engagement & Events at Dean, but it’s her community involvement that has recently earned her some pretty impressive accolades.
The Special Olympics Michigan Area 8 Eaton and Ingham Counties selected Bollman as its 2024 Volunteer of the Year. She has been volunteering with the Special Olympics since beginning her career with Dean back in 2017 and brings an immeasurable wealth of knowledge to the organization. Her connections and ties to the Greater Lansing area made her a very deserving candidate for this past year’s award.
“Courtney was recognized for her long-standing commitment of support to the athletes and programs of the Special Olympics,” said Anne Goudie, regional manager for Area 8. “She has been a resource of knowledge about the Greater Lansing community, fundraising and outreach opportunities and, most of all, her addition to the Annual Golf Outing at the Country Club of Lansing has been irreplaceable.”
The skill set she demonstrates at Dean has translated perfectly to the needs of the Special Olympics. Bollman assists with communications and transportation needs at Dean in relation to the Special Olympics. She provides knowledge and connections to businesses and contacts within the region — and Michigan State University — and brings her organizational skills to assist with fundraising, administration tasks and strategic planning initiatives.
Bollman started out assisting with the facilitation of transportation and then quickly became more involved with community relations — and then as a member of the Golf Committee. Along with her contributions as a golf outing committee member, she also facilitates the live and silent auctions and assists with any other needs on the day of the event.
Special Olympics Michigan provides year-round sports training and athletic competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. Athletes achieve their dreams with the support of caring volunteers, coaches, family members and staff. There are a variety of programs that promote awareness, inclusion, unity, health and more.
Bollman was one of just 16 regional winners from across Michigan. They were honored at the 2024 Award & Hall of Fame Banquet Ceremony on Dec. 6 in Grand Rapids.
“Courtney’s outstanding contributions have gone above and beyond in her role as a volunteer, showcasing exceptional skills, dedication and impact,” Goudie said.
