The best partnerships happen when each party brings their unique skills and expertise to make a greater impact than they could achieve on their own. The University of Michigan Health-Sparrow Mobile Health Clinic (MHC) is an example of one such effort.
Dean Transportation has been partnering with the University of Michigan Health-Sparrow to support the Mobile Health Clinic since its inception. The vehicle has been providing services throughout mid-Michigan since 2016 and aims to offer care to those in our communities who lack access to health care through traditional avenues.
As an expert in the transportation industry, Dean provides transportation, storage and maintenance services while Sparrow supplies health and medical expertise. Through this collaboration, the MHC removes the barrier of transportation for those who lack those resources or find it difficult to get to a health care provider.
“The Mobile Health Clinic serves as a vital resource for our community — bringing care to the doorsteps of those who need it most. It’s not just about medical services; it’s about building trust, breaking down barriers and creating healthier futures one neighborhood at a time,” said Cyndie Bates, U-M Health-Sparrow Access & Referral Management.
The services are entirely funded by generous donors and the W3 Mobile Health Endowment. From 2019-2024, 234 clinics have taken place through the Mobile Health Clinic and 534 patients were served in 2024. For more details, see the MHC impact report.
At Dean, our services and care expand beyond our day-to-day work, and we’re thankful for the opportunities we have around the state to lend a hand and help the places we call home.
