PTI Engineered Plastic’s Face shields utilized to protect Dean’s frontline staff during COVID-19

Dean Transportation has received a large donation of more than 1,200 face shields from the Michigan-based company PTI Engineered Plastics to protect frontline staff. As a provider of custom plastic injection molding services specializing in low-volume production, PTI has begun producing face shields to provide additional PPE options to frontline COVID-19 workers.

“We are passionate about helping the broader community during this time, and after developing a new face shield decided to provide several boxes to Dean Transportation to ensure they would directly serve those in need,” said PTI Engineered Plastics CEO, Mark Rathbone. “We are working to make our face shields more readily available to a larger audience as a for-sale product, as we believe many more could benefit from using them during this time to create safer spaces within the state and beyond.”

Dean Transportation intends to utilize the materials to protect its employees and passengers from COVID-19. The company is implementing a series of protocols and sanitation standards to ensure that passengers are protected as much as possible.

“These materials will enable us to continue delivering passengers with the level of safety and confidence they’ve come to expect when riding with Dean. By focusing on increasing out health and safety standards, we hope to set an example for other organizations in the area looking to ensure the wellbeing of their customers. As we do our part in making a difference, we are fortunate to be joined in the effort by partners that have made substantial donations to help support frontline workers,” said Kellie Dean, president and CEO of Dean Transportation. “PTI Engineered Plastics has stepped to the plate to help those committed to the health and safety of all by providing these face shields. These will go a long way in ensuring the continued health and safety during these uncertain times.”
