Fun activities and time with friends at camp? For many kids, there’s nothing more exciting than that. For the last 21 years, Dean has helped the children of its employees experience nature, make memories and grow friendships at Mystic Lake YMCA Camp. Dean partners with the YMCA scholarship program to provide employees’ children with the opportunity to attend a one-week, overnight camp session.
“Supporting our employees includes supporting their families — and we’re grateful to offer the opportunity for employees’ children to learn and grow through summer camp at Mystic Lake,” said Patrick Dean, president of Dean Transportation.
The Partnership
Since 2004, Dean has partnered with Mystic Lake to give the children of its employees the chance to experience a week away at camp. In that time, more than 2,500 children have participated. This year alone, 138 Dean campers experienced the camp’s dozens of outdoor, creative and adventure activities.
Employees from all over Michigan can send their kids to Mystic Lake through this partnership. Some Dean campers have even gone on to work at the camp through the Counselor-in-Training program. To simplify travel for families, Dean provides round-trip transportation from the Lansing area.
Mystic Lake YMCA Camp
First opened in 1926, Mystic Lake YMCA Camp has been promoting honesty, care, respect and responsibility through its activities for almost 100 years. Located in Lake, Michigan, just an hour and a half north of the Lansing area, the camp offers kids the chance to explore and grow through indoor and outdoor activities such as canoeing, kayaking, fishing, sports, high and low ropes courses, arts and crafts, and nature trails.
